Bob Lutz offered new information about the 2010 Camaro. And to our disappointment they aren’t good at all: the 2010 Camaro won’t be offered in a hardtop version unlike the concept Camaro and the 1969 Camaro.

Initially GM said that the Camaro Concept will be “virtually identical” to the concept unveiled at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show, but now Lutz confirmed that the production Camaro will in fact have a B-pillar, making it a standard coupe instead of a traditional hardtop coupe.

It finally sank in a while back that Skyline and GT-R are now two exclusive entities unto themselves. As such, Nissan has just unveiled its newest version of the Skyline to its domestic market, which is essentially the Infiniti G37 here in the States, but with an additional three horsepower, Nissan’s new pop-up engine hood technology and a blind-spot monitor system.

The V36 Skyline comes with the VQ37VHR V6 engine, mated to either a six-speed manual or an electronic five-speed auto ‘box that employs “Adaptive Shift Control,” revising shifts dependent on driving style and environmental situations.

Chrysler LLC will mail 72,333 letters to owners of 2007-2008 Dodge Avenger Sedan and Chrysler Sebring Convertible models this month as the front door latch cable on both cars may become partially unseated possibly causing the latch to stick in the unlatched position or the lock function to become inoperative. Chrysler dealers will add a secondary retention feature to both front doors. Additionally, Chrysler LLC said it will recall 1,158 MY 2008 Dodge Avenger all wheel drive (AWD) vehicles as the fuel tank straps were improperly manufactured and could separate causing the fuel tank to loosen and spill. Pontiac has announced prices for the Australian imported Commodore G8 sedan, and they’re exemplary. The rear wheel-drive sedan with a 260 horsepower V6 and a five-speed automatic will run $27,595. Upgrading to the 360 horsepower 6.0-liter V8 and a six-speed auto will cost you roughly another two-and-a-half grand ($29,995). That’s $1600 cheaper than the Hemi-propelled Charger R/T. While the dope Dodge still makes you go on a dealer inventory expedition to find cars equipped with the optional side airbags, all G8s pack six standard airbags, Stabilitrak and the Onstar Big Brother tracking system. And the V8 model has… wait for it…. a limited slip differential. Two complaints. First, the G8 should have had the 300 hp direct injection V6 and the 400 hp version of the 6.0-liter V8. Second, GM is not offering the anticipated six-speed manual transmission. Nevertheless, this is a slick, desirable car; the betting on dealer gouging starts now. I’m setting the under-over at $5k over sticker. Any advances?

Arden rebuilds this eight-cylinder engine from scratch and sharpens the claws of this big cat by increasing its displacement.

The displacement increase to 4.5 l is achieved by fitting a crankshaft specially produced for Arden, along with new con rods and pistons. Arden elicits an impressive 480 bhp / 353 kW and an awesome torque of 640 Nm at 3.850 rpm from its supercharged 4.5 l V8 engine.

Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne has engineered a restructuring of the group’s styling divisions under one roof, and has recruited a top talent to head it up. Nearly two years after retiring from his post as design chief for iconic styling house Pininfarina, Lorenzo Ramaciotti will become Fiat Group’s new head of design, responsible for styling new products for six divisions: Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Fiat Professional (light commercial trucks) and Maserati. The latter has never had its own design division, until now outsourcing its styling to independent houses like Pininfarina and Giugiaro’s Italdesign.

Thinking about buying that midlife crisis Boxster? Better get on with it. Citing the dollar's weakness against the euro, the Wall Street Journal predicts that the price of cars imported from the Eurozone will rise over the next year. So far, European automakers have been able to hold the line on price using currency hedging, which "lock in" exchange rates. Unfortunately for German car lovers, the contracts are due to expire. BMW and Mercedes will probably continue to rely on their US-built products to fill the profit gap, and hope the situation reverses itself. VW says they're fully hedged for 2007 and "more or less fully hedged for 2008." After that, it's anyone's guess what they'll do: build factories in the US, turn to China for production and/or raise prices. Porsche? Audi? Price hikes. Jaguar? The sooner it's someone else's problem, the better Ford's gonna feel.

Members of the Canadian Auto Workers union (CAW) may be caught between the proverbial rock and hard place when their contract comes up for renewal next year. On one hand, tough-talking union prez Buzz Hargrove says "we're not going down [the] road" of UAW-style concessions." He's also assured his 37.5k CAW members that a two-tier wage system and concessions are "non-starters." On the other hand, if the CAW hangs tough, they could create a significant Canada – US "wage gap." Analyst Dennis DesRosiers says if the status remains quo, there'll be a $25 dollar per hour differential. The Big 2.8 would then be tempted to send production back south or to overseas locations. With the pressures of the much larger UAW agreeing to a two-tier wage system and the threat of lost jobs, Buzz may have to tone down his rhetoric and behave in a diplomatic manner– as unaccustomed to that 'tude as he may be.
