Audi will be in serious trouble when Vauxhall will launch a quattro version the VXR. And this will happen next year! The VXR Quattro will be offered in three different versions: saloon, hatch and estate and will be priced at £25,000. Audi S4 watch out!
The new models (called Insignia) will replace the current Vectra. Under the hood there will be a choice of turbocharged V6 petrol or diesel engines, mated to a new four-wheel-drive system.
Insignia’s design was previewed by the GTC concept unveiled earlier this year at Geneva Motor Show. The VXR version will add a meaty bodykit. At the front, the jutting nose gets a body-coloured V-shaped grille, complete with sporty mesh air intakes. The streamlined headlamps get black surrounds, while the ground-hugging front bumper has integral spotlights.
Featuring 19-inch alloy wheels, a sharply curved roof, bootlid spoiler and twin chrome exhausts the new model will be a dream-come-true for all Vauxhall lovers!
The Insignia will be built on GM’s new Epsilon 2 platform, and it will be larger than the Vectra it replaces. As well as more space, the new chassis will bring other benefits, most notably improved driving dynamics.
The 2009 Insignia VXR will be powered by a 2.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine that delivers 300 hp. The 0 to 6o mph sprint will be made in and will hit a top speed of 165 mph.
