This undeniably impressively supped up Civic Type-RR is the work of Mugen and it made its debut at the recent Tokyo Auto Salon. Apart from the overly aggressive bodykit that includes an aluminium bonnet, a carbon-fibre front end and a large rear-wing spoiler, the Mugen Civic Type-RR Experimental Spec boasts a series of mechanical upgrades, the most important being the K20A engine that has been bored out to 2.2-litres. The result is an output of 260 HP and a maximum torque figure of 235 Nm or 173 lbs/ft.
As one would expect, Mugen also upgraded the Type-RR’s wheels, brakes and suspension. Inside, the Japanese tuner stripped the Civic’s cabin and added a heap load of carbon-fibre parts along with a new set of bucket seats. –More pics after the jump

An unnamed Maserati official has revealed to Automotive News that the Italian carmaker will launch a convertible version of its four-seat GranTurismo coupe next year. “The convertible will go on sale in March 2009, but we have not decided yet at which show we will unveil it,” said the company source. Like most of its competitors –e.g. BMW 6-Series, Jaguar XK and Porsche 911, the GranTurismo Convertible will most probably feature a canvas soft-top. Power will come from the same 405 HP 4.2-liter V8 as the Coupe version.
Four years after its introduction in the market, the Mercedes-Benz CLS has received its first facelift that includes subtle design changes and the addition of a new entry-level model, the V6-powered CLS 280. The four-door coupe’s exterior features a new radiator grille with two louvres instead of the previous four, larger mirrors with arrow shaped indicator lamps, new alloy-wheels, LED tail lights, trapezoidal exhaust tailpipes (and not oval as before) and finally a slightly re-designed rear bumper.

Revealed at the 2008 Detroit Show, the all-new 2009 Venza (pics & details here) is described by Toyota as a crossover sedan vehicle – don’t ask us why, we have no idea. When it goes on sale later this year, the five-passenger Venza will come with a 268Hp 3.5-liter V6 while a more fuel-efficient 2.7-liter, four-cylinder model will arrive a few months after the V6. Both engines will be paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift. -Video after the jump
Thinking back to our formative years, there were three defining moments that began our automotive obsession. Our first exotic car poster (Countach FTW!), our first subscription to a buff book (in our own name) and countless hours spent on the carpet with our Hot Wheels collection doing imaginary power slides and performing gravity defying leaps over the abyss of our kitchen sink. Amazingly, Hot Wheels has been facilitating those memories for four decades since it began selling its die-cast toys back in 1968.
