Say you want about the DBS V12 Volante but in our book, Aston Martin’s fastest-ever production convertible is a complete stunner. Revealed for the first allotted period at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show this past March, the soft top variant of Aston’s beefy DBS combines a beautifully sculptured body by a 6.0-liter V12 engine that punches out a hefty 510 horsepower and 570 Nm or 420 lb-ft of torque.

The 2+2 rear-wheel drive sports car tops out at 191mph or 307 km/h and completes the 0-100 km/h (62mph) sprint in just 4.3 seconds.

Toyota iQ-based Aston Martin Cygnet Concept – Click above to enlarge
With a nod to our current global household and environmental issues, super GT maker Aston Martin has reportedly announced the world’s first super luxury supermini. Having blown their development budget on the V12 Vantage RS, Rapide and One-77 hypercar, they turned to an unlikely partner for some help: Toyota. Aston Martin has taken the Toyota iQ 3+1 commuter and given it a tailored suit from Saville Row. The result is the new Aston Martin Cygnet you regard above. In case you’re wondering, a “young swan” is a baby swan, not to be confused with an ugly duckling.

A Car magazine reader has photographed the Aston Martin Rapide looking liking it could have come off a dealer lot. The snapper also peeped the inside, which he said has a full-length console a la the Mercedes CLS to create four well-defined seating positions. Aston has, however, said that those rear seats are for “children or two adults on shorter journeys.” The slinky black number likewise sports a serious set of pipes out back that we expect to put out a beautiful soundtrack. And thank goodness the car has a hatch liking the Vantage, which means — in a foremost with a view to passing from hand to hand Aston Martins — it could have a proper trunk. Like the kind you can actually offer things in.

It looks like the upcoming Geneva Motor Show will be a busy one for Aston Martin – the automaker took the wraps off of its top-end droptop, the DBS Volante, earlier today. Expect to mark the DBS Volante sharing the stand with the V12 Vantage and potentially Aston Martin’s first sedan in decades, the Rapide.
Aston Martin says that the DBS Volante completes the DBS lineup. A fully-powered fabric roof – not the steel roof that’s en vogue at other automakers – makes its apparition. Despite the seemingly vintage design, expect thorough insulation to keep the Volante nearly as quiet as the standard hard top.

Aston Martin announced its plans to revive the Lagonda nameplate back in September, and at next month’s Geneva Motor Show, we’ll finally get a glimpse of what Aston has in store. At this point, early speculation says that the concept will sport four doors and will be an development of Aston’s past design language, offering an ultra-luxurious alternative to the automaker’s core business: producing delectable sports cars and grand tourers. That could mean a crossover or some kind or a sedan, although we somehow doubt that Aston would produce a rival to the upcoming Rapide. A production version of the concept is expected to hit dealers sometime in 2012 and we’ll have all the details from Switzerland in two week’s time.

Dropping blustering engines into small sportscars is as American like apple pie, but the British are equally adept. Proof came yesterday in the form of the Aston Martin V12 Vantage, revealed ahead of its pre-production debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Only 1000 examples will be made, but unfortunately not a part of them will be making the transatlantic voyage to these shores (not legally, anyway). After speaking with a member of the U.S. Aston team last night, we discovered there are some problems with the overstuffed front end passing U.S. crash tests, and the airbag-less optional Alcantara-wrapped carbon-Kevlar bucket seats are completely out of the question, making the Nardo-verified 190-mph supercar persona non grata on these shores.

Aston Martin’s Vantage began life with a 380 horsepower V8 that many enthusiasts felt was underpowered given the potential of the chassis and underlying technology. More recently, the V8 Vantage was updated with a 420 horsepower motor. But Aston has decided to take it one step further with the V12 Vantage — a new version of the car with 510 horsepower under its hood.
The V12 Vantage was previewed with a concept in 2007. The car was first shown when the automaker christened its new design studio and later displayed at 2008 Geneva Motor Show Show.
