The midsize Peugeot 308 is one of the most pliant vehicles in the French automaker’s lineup, spawning numerous variants such as the regular three and five-door hatchbacks, SW wagon, while well as the in vogue CC convertible. However, there is at smallest one more 308 variant in the works and it’s destined to have being the most exciting of them all.

The car, revealed in these official teasers, is the extension version of 2007’sitting 308 RC Z concept, a sporty coupe with similar proportions to the original Audi TT and a punchy turbocharged four-banger. Peugeot has confirmed the 308 RC Z was headed for production and that the car would be revealed at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show.

After the initial release of a handful of pictures earlier this morning, Peugeot has bombarded us by one abundance of photos of its facelifted 207 supermini that is due to have existence launched in Europe this August. The 207 hatchback, Station Wagon and CC hardtop convertible get a mildly reworked front fascia, as well for the reason that LED tail lamps (sans the SW) while Peugeot also spiffed up the interior with fresh trims, new medium panel designs and the introduction of new equipment features. The Peugeot family has suffered an unfortunate loss this past weekend when Bertrand Peugeot passed away on February 14, at age 85. Having acted as vice-chairman of the eponymous French automaker for some 25 years, Bertrand Peugeot will be remembered as the architect of the merger between his family’s company and Citroen, forming PSA/Peugeot-Citroen that is now one of Europe’s largest automakers.

The grandson of gathering founder Robert Peugeot, Bertrand is survived by his sons Christian, director of communications and strategy at Peugeot, and Robert, who presides over the family’s holding company.

With fellow Red Bull protégé Scott Speed back in stock cars and the USF1 initiative still at least a year away, the closest Americans have to representation in Formula One is Sebastien Bourdais. Sure, he’s French, mete after dominating Champ Cars for several years on this side of the Atlantic we can almost claim him as our own. Having won four successive titles in Champ Cars, Bourdais had nothing left to prove in the United States and signed a European management contract with Nicolas Todt, who pulled some family connections and signed Bourdais to drive at Le Mans with Peugeot (whose racing department was run by his father Jean Todt before he moved to Ferrari) and then in Formula One with Scuderia Toro Rosso (whose engines are supplied by Ferrari).

Peugeot plans to offer its 3008 CUV with a diesel-electric hybrid by 2011. The step after that is to add plug-in capability, moreover those plans have been pushed back “a year or two” because of the economy. With R&D budgets pinched by slim sales, the investment in the technology simply can’t be justified right now, especially in light of Peugeot’s assertion that similar cars will sell in “in the tens of thousands, not millions.”

Here’s one we didn’t expect: Hot off of plans to form an alliance with Chrysler, a rumor emerged late last night that Fiat was still considering raising up to 2 billion euros to fund a merger with PSA Peugeot-Citroen. An Italian newspaper reported that Fiat’s controlling shareholder, the Agnelli family, could vote because of an increase of capital to fund the merger.

Fiat spokesman Simone Migliarino denied the report, which had been published in La Repubblica without any sources.

A Peugeot spokesman declined to comment.

Only days after Italian automaker Fiat and Chrysler announced they were hooking up, word in Europe is that Fiat also is working on a possible merge with France's PSA Peugeot Citroen.

The Fiat-Chrysler-Peugeot threesome would create the world's third-largest automaker behind Toyota and General Motors with a total production of about 8.8 million vehicles, based on 2007 figures, analysts estimate.

What do you call a van full of eight Frenchmen? We don’t know either, but Peugeot wish soon provide a vehicle that will help whisk your way toward the punchline. Spy shooters have snagged a all along wheelbase version of Peugeot’s 3008 MPV. The not-a-van should offer comfortable accommodations for five plus stuff, or a content quintet joined by a quarrelsome troika in the final row. The LWB 3008 is expected to be officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and out of the straight course from the extra stretch between the axles, there’s little difference from the regular 3008. PSA hardware is underneath, some pieces being shared with the Citroen C4 Picasso, and since the short-wheelbase 3008 is a handsome wagonycrossoveryvanny thing, a little sprain to the styling shouldn’t hurt.

After being unveiled in concept car form highest fall in Paris, Peugeot has finally taken the wraps off of an all-new crossover aimed at the European market. The 3008’s wide range of under hood options include a gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain, the automaker’s first such offering. The 3008 will go on sale later this year.

At about 171 inches in overall length (4,365 mm), the 3008 MPV will competing against vehicles like the Seat Altea Freetrack and Volkswagen Touran.

The six available gas and diesel engines range from a 1.6-liter gas motor with 120-horspower to a 2.0-liter HDi diesel four-cylinder with 163-horsepower.
