This weekend’s American Le Mans Series strength at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut was an important one for the series that promotes itself as the leader in “Green Racing.” The Corsa Motorsports team debuted its Ginetta-Zytek 09HS hybrid LMP1 car at the last race in Utah before Le Mans. However, because the car had been running for just a few days, they only used the mongrel system in practice. Once the race started, it was switched off. Now that the team has had more opportunity by the car, they opted to run by the system fully enabled at Lime Rock.

Rumors are heating up that Ferrari Formula One driver Kimi Räikkönen will walk away from the grand prix circus at the end of the 2009 season. If the 2007 World Champion does quit, it would unreserved up his seat on the side of two-time champion Fernando Alonso. The right to host a Formula One grand prix in Germany was once a hot commodity. Both Hockenheim and the Nürburgring wanted it, and for years, both got it, with the former’sitting occurrence billed as the German Grand Prix and the latter’s as the European Grand Prix. Both put up a fight when comparison events were reduced to one, and an alternation agreement was impose in place for the Nürburgring to host in likewise years and Hockenheim in odd years. But in a spectacular sign of the times, it appears that nobody wants the root next year.
