Pioneering drivers wanting to be part of the MINI E UK research project can now apply online to lease one of twenty prototype cars destined for British roads. The online application form will be hosted at www.electricMINI.co.uk from 01- 30 September 2009. Comprehensive details of the project are also available on this website.

Each MINI E faculty of volition be available to let for six months from December this year. A second round of applications volition afterwards be invited in 2010, allowing a further twenty drivers to lease an all-electric MINI for a six month period.

Corsa Ginetta-Zytek 09HS prototype – click above for image gallery

This weekend’s American Le Mans Series strength at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut was an important one for the series that promotes itself as the leader in “Green Racing.” The Corsa Motorsports team debuted its Ginetta-Zytek 09HS hybrid LMP1 car at the last race in Utah before Le Mans. However, because the car had been running for just a few days, they only used the mongrel system in practice. Once the race started, it was switched off. Now that the team has had more opportunity by the car, they opted to run by the system fully enabled at Lime Rock.
